The Obervatory

The Group administers a prospective multi-center observatory of patients admitted after major trauma to the participating centers. This observatory consists of a database with more than 190 items on epidemiology and clinical characteristics. These items describe the management and clinical evolution from the management on scene and stay in intensive care and the hospital. A detailed list of all items is available on request.

All patients are included that present with at least one criterion of the triage algorithm of Vittel (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/262578394_Evaluation_of_the_performance_of_French_physician-staffed_emergency_medical_service_in_the_triage_of_major_trauma_patients). There are no exclusion criteria.

A pediatric version of the obervatory is in preparation.

The TraumaBase© obtained approval from the Institutional Review Board (Comité de Protection des Personnes, Paris VI,) from the Advisory Committee for Information Processing in Health Research (CCTIRS, 11.305bis) and from the National Commission on Informatics and Liberties (CNIL, 911461).
